Making Your Selection
To help you make your paper selection, we have, where possible, included a series of icons to help you to identify specific criteria for each paper.
 Totally Chlorine Free–The raw material is bleached without the use of any chlorine compound. Elemental Chlorine Free–The raw material is bleached using a chlorine compound, not raw chlorine.

Long Life–Papers made to this standard meet the archival 200 year requirement
 CIE Whiteness–The figure shown gives a recognized measurement of the paper’s whiteness. The higher the figure, the whiter the paper.
Opacity–This is a laboratory measurement that gives an indication of how much show-through there is. The higher the %, the less show-through.
Thickness (microns)–Also known as caliper, this gives us the average thickness of a sheet. Historically, an 80 gsm sheet was 100 microns thick. However, due to manufacturing developments some 80 gsm sheets are now up to 110 microns thick.
ColorlokTM is a new technology developed by leading machine manufacturers and paper makers for use on inkjet and laser copiers. Papers made to this standard will produce a darker text, more vibrant colours and faster drying times when used on inkjet printers.
Sustainable Forest Source–These products are made from managed forest resources with ongoing replanting programmes.
Plantation Source–These products are made from fibre sourced from farmed tree plantations. A typical cycle from seedling to harvest for eucalyptus and acacia trees is seven years.
Process Accreditation–This signifies that the mill’s operations comply with this ISO standard of quality.
Environmental Accreditation–This signifies that the mills products and operations meet or exceed this ISO environmental standard
The European Eco-Label distinguishes products that meet high standards of performance and environmental quality
FSC Labeled Products–The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international, Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. It operates a system of forest certification and product labeling that allows consumers to identify wood and wood- based products from well managed forests.
PEFC labeled products. The Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Scheme: this indicates that the fibres are obtained from sustainable, managed, certificated forests.
Recycled–This product has been made using reclaimed fibre–the percentage shown indicates the proportion of reclaimed fibre the sheets contain.
